Have you ever wondered what a Public Domain is?
Having searched the internet thousands of times looking for (Free) photos for blog posts. I can relate to your frustration. You will find yourselves lost in the search columns of Google Search without this information.
Let me show you a step-by-step guide to help get you to the right spot on the world wide web. This information will have you using all the (free) images you can find on the internet.
Public Domain Definition (Free-Photos)
A Public Domain is all creative work that has no copyright license. This definition of Public Domain can vary from country to country. These examples are for the United States only. You can use Public Domain works in a few different ways listed below.
Blog Posts
Products for sale
Posters
Social Media Platforms
The only thing that warrants further research is those Public Domains listed as editorial or owned by the United States Government. These Images will be listed in the Public Domain listings but have limited licenses attached to those image uses.
After a long and exhausting search on the internet. I have found the perfect site that offers easy options for you.
Raw Pixel is a website that allows you to use Public Domain photos for whatever you choose to do with them. This website also has other Images you can buy or use under certain conditions. It took me 'searching thousands of other (not) free websites to find this one.
Most sites rank high in Google search but only offer you something if you pay a fee or subscribe to their site. Watch out for the sites promising something when you pay for it. Public Domains do not cost anything to use. Never let a site charge you for something that is already free.
Let us say; that you are searching for an image to use for Drop-shipping coffee cups to your customers. When thinking about making money, you want something to use that will cost you nothing out of pocket.
If you click on the link below (Raw Pixels website), You will be able to use most Public Domain images for free. Please make sure they are under the Public Domain section of the website. If you download that image, you can then transfer it to your design page on your website.
I hope this (short) blog post helps you figure out how to use free images for your personal and professional projects. Remember to look up your country's copyright laws before using this information in your neck of the woods.
Thank you for being here.
